Kolkheti National Park - A national park on the Black Sea coast, near Lake Paliastomi. It is bordered by the Eseri River to the east and the Phichori River to the south. It has the area of 561 ha.
The purpose of the park is to protect the entire complexity of relict flora and fauna typical of the Kolkheti lowland. The park is of great scientific and historical importance. The distinctive Kolkheti landscape of swamp and lowland forests is preserved here. Alder, beech, hornbeam, kolkheti ivy, watercress, sage and relict herbaceous plants are common as well as some animals, including roe deer, wild boar and others.
Since the 24th of October 2007, the Kolkheti ecosystem has been inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List.
